Employees Disgruntled By Telecommuting Co-Workers
New research out of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute suggests that telecommuting has a negative effect on those who work in the traditional office.
As reported on bMighty.com, those employees are more likely to be dissatisfied with their jobs and leave the company, said Timothy Golden, a management professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who studied a sample of 240 professional employees from a midsize company.
Telecommuting’s benefits are well-known in terms of boosting morale and reducing stress. But for those in an office, the perception is “they have decreased flexibility and a higher workload," Golden told Reuters.
Nearly three out of four SMBs have at least one or more employees telecommuting, according to the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
